AP Language & Comp Research/Argumentation Project:
Deadline: Post to Turnitin.com by midnight of February 6. (That is roughly 30 days from the time that you are given this paper, so there will be NO excused late papers. We will follow the normal class format for papers turned in late. If I don’t get it by that following Friday, you will receive a zero. For your own sake, try to get it finished by the Thursday before the deadline.)
Requirements : *Must make valid Aristotelian Appeals to Ethos, Pathos, and Logos.
*Must understand your Exigence, Audience, and Purpose.
*Must utilize rhetorical strategies/devices & figures of speech.
*Must write in a formal, MLA style with proper citations / Works Cited page.
*Must use a minimum of 4 sources: At least 1 of them in print form.
*Any internet source must be from Ebscohost— If not, no credit for source.
*Essay must take a clearly defined position and argue towards a GOAL.
*You will also need to be an effective informer of the fact involved.
*You will also be objective in POV and avoid logical fallacies/subjectivism.
*Essay will typed in Times New Roman 12 pt. font.
*Essay will be a minimum of 1000 words, maximum of 1200 words.
* You will also turn in a printed out version to be graded on format, spacing, etc.
*You will proofread more than once—errors in spelling, sentence structure, pronoun antecedents, and commas will be counted against your total grade.
We will spend a total of 3 days in the library at the start of the assignment in which you will gather sources. Then we will spend each following Monday in the library to type and utilize library resources. Those dates will be the 13th, 20th, 27th of January and the 4th of February.
This assignment will be worth 500 points and will be evaluated on these 5 criteria at 100 points each:
*MLA format & Thesis support
*Rhetorical devices/strategies/figurative language
*Overall effectiveness of the writing (Exigence/Audience/Purpose) Do you move the audience?
