I have attended several different professional developments to enhance my teaching. I have recently been chosen to participate in the AR Teacher Fellowship Program, a collaboration between the Center for Children & Youth at the University of Arkansas, Walton Arts Center, and Crystal Bridges Museum of American Art.

I have received a Picturing America grant, which provided wonderful resources for my American History classes and colleagues.

I have been chosen to be a discussant at the National Council on Public History in Atlanta, GA on March 19, 2020.

Current Position:

This is my 6th year teaching at Valley Springs High School. I currently teach Pre-AP American History, Psychology and Sociology. This is my 17th  year in the teaching profession.

Previous Position:

I began as a Title I aide at Omaha, where I tutored reading to elementary students. After a year, I accepted a social studies position at Alpena, where I taught for 11 years. I have taught everything under the sun, including: Contemporary American History, American History, Civics, World History, Arkansas History, World Geography, Study Skills(writing), Psychology and Sociology, Remediation(Algebra 1 &2, Geometry, 7th & 8th grade math, 7th & 9th grade English, and Biology), .

Family Information:

My husband and I have been married since December 30, 2000. We have a 7 year old daughter that is our sunshine. My husband, Kevin, is also a teacher. He is employed with the Harrison School District and teaches several technology classes at the O.U.R. Cooperative throughout the summer time.

Personal Information:

I love a good suspenseful movie. I am a big fan of Sci-Fi anything- Star Wars, Star Trek, Battlestar Galactica. When I have time, I like to read a good book. All Quiet on the Western Front, The Shining or anything Agatha Christie keeps me pretty content. I attempt to garden, but I think I play in the dirt more than anything else. I love finding a good bargain at yard sales or Black Friday. I won't wrestle anyone for a Tickle Me Elmo, but I do love getting a good deal!
