River of Life is hosting Hope Fest on August 1st from 10 am to 2 pm. There will be Shoes, Haircuts, Backpacks, Food and More! This is a free community event and will be held at ROLC, 5731 Hwy 65 South, Harrison, AR 72601.

The Valley Springs School District will observe the Arkansas Activities Association’s (AAA) mandatory Summer Dead Period from Sunday, June 21 through Sunday, July 5, 2026. During this time, all VSSD athletic facilities will be closed to student-athletes.
The Summer Dead Period is an annual requirement for all AAA member schools, designed to provide student-athletes and coaches with a break from athletic activities. In accordance with AAA guidelines, coaches, including licensed teacher coaches and registered volunteers, may not engage in any athletic-related activities with student-athletes during this period. This includes practices, training sessions, weightlifting, competitions, team travel, or any other organized athletic activities.
In addition to complying with AAA regulations, the closure provides an opportunity for VSSD to complete important maintenance and upkeep projects at athletic facilities in the district. Gym floors will be refinished during this time and no traffic/use is allowed.
The district appreciates the cooperation of students, families, coaches, and community members as we observe this required period and prepare for a successful return to athletics later this summer.
For more information about AAA regulations, visit the Arkansas Activities Association website.
